Diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Breast Cancer in 2016 at 27 years old, Mackenzie ‘retired’ from her career path as a landscape architect. Although, her interest in design didn’t disappear when she stopped working. She began diving deeper into her creative side and interest in art and design. Cancer treatment is not easy, and is quite exhausting. Art became an integral part of coping with illness. It has become a way of processing death and dying, too. It is an exploration in vibrancy and in decay, the intersection of beauty and sadness. It is her way to pause time, and to express the emotions that words cannot capture.
By purchasing a drawing, you are directly giving Mackenzie a means to support herself while living with this disabling disease. All of your support is tremendously appreciated.
